Day 1 – Florence
On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel in Florence.This afternoon we include a walking tour in the company of a Local Guide to introduce you to the city’s main attractions including Il Duomo di Firenze, the cathedral of Florence. A magnifi cent central dome, which towers over the city, is the crowning glory of this iconic structure. You will also see the L-shaped Piazza della Signoria, poet Dante Alighieri’s birthplace, Giotto’s breathtaking campanile and The Baptistery, one of the city’s most important religious buildings.This evening we include dinner at a restaurant close to your hotel in the historical centre of Florence. Day 2 – Uffizi Gallery
Today you can admire some of the finest examples of Renaissance art – including Botticelli’s iconic Birth of Venus – at the revered Uffizi Gallery. Botticelli was hugely influential in the rise of Renaissance art in the 15th and early 16th centuries and you will be able to see a huge collection of his works here. This afternoon is free for you to spend at leisure – a perfect time for shopping and exploring further at your own pace. (B )
Day 3 – Hidden Florence
This morning is free for you to spend at leisure or alternatively, you may choose to join our optional walking tour to discover “Hidden Florence”. In the company of a Local Guide you will explore the Oltrarno district, which is on the other side of the Arno River and offers an engaging alternative view of life in Florence. This charming maze of streets between the beautiful Ponte Vecchio bridge and Piazza Santo Spirito is famous for its artisan workshops, known as bottega. Craftsmen use traditional methods to make shoes, bags, jewellery and much more, with many products destined for designer shops. Our tour also takes in the church of Santo Spirito, with its Renaissance interior and wooden crucifix attributed to a young Michelangelo.The afternoon is free for you to explore at leisure, perhaps take the local bus to Piazzale Michelangelo for a stunning view over the river and the city.(B )
Day 4 – Florence
You are free to spend the morning exploring at your own pace or you may wish to join our Local Guide on an optional excursion to Fiesole, a traditional village set high in the hills offering superb views over Florence. Find out about its Etruscan roots and intriguing historic remains, including a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre.The afternoon is free for you to spend at leisure before transferring to the airport or Train Station for Return ……..(B)
